Week 7
¡Hola a todos!
Como están?! Hahah I am doing well. My first week has been nothing short of amazing. I have seen God's hand in my life so much. I have been blessed with so many opportunities to share, learn, testify, and study. My testimony continues to grow as I learn to teach others! I'm so happy with what I have in store for me in Reno.
So I left you guys on a cliff hanger last time. Right after I sent my last email I met my companion, got assigned my area, and had an orientation. This day was very overwhelming but nonetheless I still have loved it. My companion's name is Elder Schott. He is from Oklahoma and is a G. He has taught me so much this first week. Our area is called Sierra branch central. Spanish speaking baby!! Yup. That's right. If you're reading this and are surprised, don't be. Getting a Spanish area is hard. There are only 2 zones with Spanish speakers in it. One is Reno and the other is Elko which is 5 hours away. Sooooo I'm in Reno! Good old Reno. Me and my comp live behind a casino so you already know that's fun. We also are on bikes! We bike absolutely everywhere. My legs are absolutely shredded right now. We're the only elders on bikes in our zone so that is amazing. We steal rides from a bunch of elders hahaha. We gotta finesse the other elders. Shott is so well known so anytime we see any other companionship we talk for a while. Me and him have actually been getting along well. I really have enjoyed getting to know him! I won't go into mega detail now but you'll see how he throughout this transfer hahaha
When in Reno, we speak to a lot of native speakers. My Spanish is pretty bad so I can't understand much. I've been BEGGING on my knees for the gift of tongues and let me tell you... it's real. We watched all of general conference in Spanish. I didn't understand anything so I've gotta watch it again. I will say, when we teach people I'm able to speak and understand. The spirit guides me in the very hour I need it! There's a scripture about that so definitely go find it. Elder Schott does do a lot of the talking but I promise I do too ;)
I've really loved my first week and a few of these pictures are proof of it. I've had my ups and downs but I know this is EXACTLY where I need to be. These people need me here and I can't wait to see why. I love this gospel and everything within it. My dad recently wrote me a letter concerning his conversion story. My dad never really shared the details with me but I've never been more blessed to hear it. My dad's letter is a constant reminder of why I'm out here. Thanks dad!!
Anyways, this is getting super long but I've got so much more to say. I've loved this work and can't wait to do more! Hope you all are well. Reach out to me if you'd like to hear some more. Be safe!
Ether 12:12 - For if there be no faith among the children of men God can do no miracle among them; wherefore, he showed not himself until after their faith.
