Week 6

Buenos dias!!     Hahaha how is it going everyone? I hope all is well! I am now officially in Reno baby! Yesterday i flew in around noon, then we met the mission president, then had a like orientation for all the new missionaries! Then the new missionaries paired up with someone who has been out in the mission for a year or so. I went out with an elder named Elder Houston! He is from Riverton, Utah so we had a lot to talk about. He is really nice and has good relations with a bunch of members in the area. We had dinner with this old couple and they were so awesome. Then afterwards we visited this family and it was pretty fun. In this family, the mom is baptized but the rest of the family isn't... so their missionaries want to baptize the rest of them. We stayed in a hotel and now we're going to meet our companions. Looks like you will find out who my comp is next week!     The adjustment has been weird. I am missing my family and it's only day two so the power of pra...

First Day In Reno Letter

Image
Hello LaTour Family, I have arrived safely in Reno, Nevada! So far, it is a little breezy. We are currently in a meeting to get to know everyone! Tonight I stay in a hotel with a temporary companion until I meet my trainer! So far being here I have been having fun. I thought I would feel more stressed out or nervous but I feel great. I think the fact that I know I should be here really helps me. I hope everything is going well back at home. I can't wait to start this work! This is where Heavenly Father needs me. Love you guys! Can't wait :) Sincerely,  Elder LaTour

Week 5

Buenos Dias!!     This is officially my last week of my home MTC experience. I have been humbled tremendously from these last 6 weeks. The feelings that I mentioned in my last email have not changed. I felt really discouraged and tired, but I also felt amazing and didn't want it to end. As my last week comes to an end, I can only be grateful for everything I have learned. I haven't even left for the field yet and I have been learning every day. I am grateful for my district and my teachers! They have all taught me so much. I had the privilege of watching a devotional with my district. I took a moment and looked at everyone while we were watching. I felt so much love for this group of people. They all shine with this amazing light of Christ. I know that all of them are going to bring so much happiness to people's lives. I also took a moment to reflect on my own purpose as a missionary. I am so excited to serve the people of Reno, Nevada. As my day gets closer to departure, I...

Week 4

¡Holaaaaaa!     Tomorrow is my 1 month mark in the MTC! Holy smokes this has been an emotional roller coaster! There are some days where I feel like I can not do it anymore. I want to take the tag off and call it. There are some days where I think I could do this for my entire life and nothing can stop me. The world is mysterious that way. I have been comforted by the Holy Ghost more times than I can count. I encourage all of you to remember that WE can do it. I promise you are not alone. Also, I am learning so much about this gospel than I ever have before. I am immersing myself each day in the words of the scriptures, prophets new and old, and those around me. I am so grateful for my decision to serve the Lord. I know that this wouldn't be easy hahaha but I know for sure that this is something I can do! I am humbled every day to see the blessings of God in my life.     My Spanish is starting to come along! In my afternoon class, if we speak any English we have to s...

Week 3

Hola a todos!     I am half way through my MTC experience! I am going to be honest... it has not been exactly what I had expected how the start of my mission would look like. However, I have been able to see the long term perspective. I see this as a slow transition into my missionary life for these next two years. I leave for the field on the 28th of September! I am very eager to preach the gospel. Having my teachers act if they are an investigator isn't cutting it for me anymore hahaha. I have begun to understand a lot about myself and what works for me. The gospel has been amazing and I have loved diving so deep into something I absolutely love!     I have been really enjoying my time with my district! They are all great people and it has been awesome to get to know them better. The missionaries in my area have also been really awesome to spend time with. We recently had a testimony meeting with some missionaries in our area and it was so inspiring. It is so cool ...

Week 2

Hey everyone! Once again, I hope you are all doing well!     The 2nd week of my MTC experience is complete! I have so far cherished so many memories and spiritual moments and I can not wait to make even more. This week I was able to get even more adjusted to the general mission life. I have been getting way more involved in my studies which has been a blast. My companion and I have started to share with each other some things from our personal study which I love! My companion has an amazing spirit with him and I am so grateful to hear his testimony everyday. For those that know me, you know how much I like to talk. Seriously, ask the people that know me and they know I can talk forever. Elder Wilding is a great listener as well so I am thankful for that. I am here doing the full 6 weeks of online MTC. Previously I was notified that I would be carrying on the last month of the MTC at Provo, which obviously isn't the case. Now don't worry! I am actually content with this. I have...
