Week 26

Buenas!!!

How are you all doing? I'm just here to report another solid week here in Carson City! This place is growing on me, I will not lie. It's pretty small and barren but I have found things to like! My companion and I worked really hard this week. I'm not kidding, we worked HARD. We were waking up earlier and going to bed later because of the work we had. Cutting dinners short, running back to the apartment only to go to the bathroom, it was seriously a crazy week. It was well worth it too! We found 9 new people to start teaching on a regular basis. After this week my testimony of Heavenly Father blessing you for your efforts has strengthened.

We were able to attend the Temple this week! It was such a refreshing experience for both my companion and I. The temple really brings a unique peace that can be found anywhere else. I was really excited to go and we had to wake up around 5:45 to get there on time. Since I was in Reno, I was able to see a few people I taught in my last area which was kind of fun! I wish as missionaries we could go on PDAY or something because man... The temple is such an amazing experience!!

We have a friend here named Marcos. He is such an awesome guy. He comes from a harsh background so he almost seems scary. However, I've never met a man so willing to give up his time for Heavenly Father. Every phone call, every visit, every text, he is there. Just a few days ago, our lesson consisted of me explaining The Bible. He had so many questions about it. He was at a point where I was. I had no clue what was going on with The Bible. I told him the things that I knew and testified to the Book of Mormon. My companion asked him to pray about our message. I felt the spirit so strongly during that lesson and I was just gonna ask him to be baptized right then. (I didn't, I wasn't ambitious enough) He looks at us and says, "thank you brothers, I will do it" I almost broke into tears for whatever reason, but I think the joy of someone trying to accept this gospel was so overwhelming. There have been so many heartbreaks that I've had, even before my mission, of people challenging my beliefs and trying to tell me I'm a sham or I'm getting conned. Just yesterday, someone screamed, "SAVE THE MORMONS! THEY'RE GOING TO HELL SAVE THE MORMONS!" As strong as we all claim to be, those things can cut deep. However, this one little victory for me was everything. It was a powerful experience for me! That story was a lot, but these things really keep me going!

I have never taught so many people the restoration of this gospel in my life! It seemed like that was our main theme for this week. I loved it though, because I get to testify of Joseph Smith and The Book of Mormon which is always really exciting! A lot of people are so nice too when they hear about it. They might not agree, but more often than not they are respectful!

My time here in Carson City has been awesome. So many jokes, laughs, excitement, disappointment, frustration, and much more. In just a few days I hit my 6 months set apart as a missionary. It's crazy to me that I've been out for that long. The decision to leave everything behind was and is a big sacrifice. However, I know that being here will bless my future and is blessing me now. What an amazing opportunity I have to serve a Mission and help those here in Nevada. I miss you all and I hope all is well. Happy Valentine's day! Show someone some love today! (righteously) Be safe!

Mosiah 3:17 - And moreover, I say unto you, that there shall be no other name given nor any other way nor means whereby salvation can come unto the children of men, only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent.
