Week 30
Que lo que!! You guys already know...
This week was a fantastic last week of the transfer. It was really weird to think that I'm heading into my 5th transfer of my mission! I'm getting "older" it's so weird. I used to be called the baby of each zone I was in but now I'm one of the oldest ones! Also... good news!! I'm staying here in Carson City with my companion! You know what that means?! More calisthenics and more missionary work! I'm really excited to stay with him for one more I actually quite like having him around. We've got a few jokes and all so it's been really fun. Our zone didn't get switched up too much which was nice! However, the Reno Mission used to have 8 zones and now it's going down to 5. My old zone got combined with the Reno zone and the California zone is getting put with the Reno North zone. It's crazy changes!! We also have a mission tour coming up so someone from the area presidency is coming to the Mission and we are having a bunch of stuff go on! Our mission president, his wife, and the Élder from the area presidency will be doing "splits" with people in the mission to see how everyone is doing. I don't think any of them speak Spanish so I'm safe!!
Another week full of miracles. We had a lot of finding time but not many people found. It's weird because it's starting to get warmer but still everyone is afraid to be outside hahaha. I've been trying some new things to hopefully break out of my recitation of introducing myself in Spanish. It's been a challenge but a challenge well worth it. We spent a lot of time with our friend Abel this week! He's been flipping his entire life around. He's selling his home, dumped his ex (what a man), and got a fantastic new job. He tells us all the time how we're his guardian angels and it makes me laugh. It's not us though!! It's all the Big Man Upstairs. It's really cool to see his progression, for six more weeks!!
Something amazing also was Las Niñas were baptized this week! If you guys don't remember who the famous Niñas are, I'll give you a quick recap. I taught them in my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd transfer of my mission. Went from 0 to everything taught. They were put on date but unfortunately weren't coming to church enough or let alone interested. However, as I left they began to spike in interest and church attendance. I'm not complaining at all but hopefully it had nothing to do with me! They were baptized just a few days ago and I was able to confirm the little sweet younger Niña. Something silly, but as she was baptized I began to cry because of the SUPER STRONG Spirit that was present. Baptisms are a blessing and I had the privilege of doing the confirmation!
Also, this week we went to Bridgeport, California! It is the farthest part of our area. It's 1 hour and 45 minutes away down south. Its a small little down with like 70 people. We have a progressing investigator down there! We went over and she fed us a delicious lunch and we had a lesson with her. We asked her to be baptized and she said she wasn't ready (understandable!) and We invited her to start attending church. She agreed and it was so awesome! The drive down there was beautiful too. Most greenery I've seen in a while. Nevada doesn't have many trees besides Tahoe...
Speaking of that we might be able to go today! As I write this email we're going to be asking for permission! It's a rule to not go to Tahoe (lame sauce) so hopefully Mission President says yes!
Freak he said no.
I love this work you guys. Recently I've been studying a lot about The Book of Mormon. Yes, I have been reading it but I've also been studying about it. There are a lot of talks that discuss the translation process of the Book of Mormon. I've also read several arguments against the Book of Mormon and its validity. Something I've realized is that our Testimonies of this Book are sort of like a sword and shield. We can use to it touch the hearts of others and testify greatly of Jesus Christ. We can also use it as a shield when people try to "prove" us wrong or tell us that The Book of Mormon isn't true. Something that I read, which was really cool, is that a lot of the people who don't believe in the Book of Mormon... Haven't actually read it. Which makes sense to me personally. What is so wrong about a Book that brings you closer to Jesus Christ? It's a silly topic, but I'd like to invite all of you to evaluate your testimony of The Book of Mormon. If you don't have one, get one. If you have one, strengthen it!
Love you guys all! I hope everything is well. Feel free to reach out to me! Be safe!
