Week 34
Muy buenos días a todos!!
This week was another one to put in the books! It was filled with a lot of laughs, some frustrating moments of course, but completely filled with the guidance of The Holy Ghost! Couldn't ask for a better time of my life right now! Okay, shall we get into a few highlights and stories now? I know you're all dying!
Our friend Abel is a homie!! We've been continuing hanging out with him and teaching him more about The Gospel! When God says he prepares these people, He really does. Abel is elect and his desire to change is so inspiring. Unfortunately, we have to wait for him to be baptized because of some legal stuff. However please, if you can, keep him in your prayers! He's looking to get his kids back right now and fortunately things are going well! However, in the next month a lot of stuff could change so we just gotta have faith!
We had a little fiasco go down this week. Our mission president asked us to attend the local emotional resilience classes in our area. We have been running ads as missionaries to get people to come and take this class as well. My companion and I arrived at the class after giving a sweet lady in the hospital a blessing of healing, so cute and so sweet by the way, and we sat down and the brother immediately asked us what we were doing there. We explained to him that our Mission President had asked us to be there. He then asked us if we would be attending all the classes. We said yes and then he responded, "Will you though?" I was like okkkk this guy doesn't want us here. We responded with another yes and then he told us this spiel about how they didn't want us there and it'd be better if we left. We left. Then we just got notified last night by our mission president that we are still going to go. SO AWKWARD WHYYYYY!!!! It's okay, but it's gonna be a little weird.
My companion and I are getting along well! Sorry if it sounded like I wanted to rip my hair out... I am all okay! It's nothing bad at all and I'm very lucky to have him as a companion. However, just last night as I was Praying before bed, I got up after and hopped right in bed because it was a little late. I jump in and both of my legs are entirely soaked. I take my cover off and my bed sheet is covered in water. I was so confused, then of course when I turned around my companion was busting out laughing. I tried to force a laugh out, tried to think of something funny, or even just show some type of reaction that wouldn't make him feel bad... But I failed at that. I just looked at him and asked him, "why?" He felt very bad afterwards but I ended up feeling worse because I was kind of mean!! It's okay we're all good but I just sleep on a towel instead of a bed sheet last night.
We had some awesome experiences where we were able to have the Gift of Tongues bless us! Unfortunately, my companion has a little bit of social anxiety and when we go to dinners or lessons... He barely talks unless I cue him in. However, this week he did very well! He talked more at dinners, participated more in lessons, and his Spanish all clicked very well! It was a blessing to see that and I also had a lot of times during the week where my words just left my mouth without even thinking. Then after the lesson my companion goes, "what the heck did you just teach bro." It is an amazing gift you guys!!
Well, that was my week. I'm very excited to celebrate my Savior this week and His Resurrection! Yesterday was Palm Sunday and then we have Body Thursday, Good Friday, and then Easter Sunday! I think there is a name for Saturday but I can't remember! eeeek sorry!! Anyways, what an amazing time to have and focus on Him. In my personal studies I have been reading about Ammon and his missionary buddies. The conversion of the King of The Lamanites, King Lamoni's father, says something really inspiring when he is praying.
Alma 22:18 "...and I will give away all my sins to know thee..."
This was really inspiring to me! Not only do I want to give up my sins to know Him, I want to give up everything to know Him! What an amazing thing to think about. Hope that inspired you a little this morning! Have a fantastic week y'all, remember to celebrate this amazing week of remembering that Christ lives! Feel free to reach out to me! Be safe!
Alma 23:6 - And as sure as the Lord liveth, so sure as many as believed, or as many as were brought to the knowledge of the truth, through the preaching of Ammon and his brethren, according to the spirit of revelation and of prophecy, and the power of God working miracles in them—yea, I say unto you, as the Lord liveth, as many of the Lamanites as believed in their preaching, and were converted unto the Lord, never did fall away.
