Week 41
Muy buenos días mis amigos!!
I hope you guys all had an amazing week these past few days because, man God is good! I had a really good week just filled with tiny miracles! It is getting pretty warm here in Carson so I'm excited to get out and talk to todo la gente!! I am looking a little more tan than usual because of the missionary grind but we all know that I still look like a vanilla ice cream cone from McDonald's
We had an amazing few lessons this week with our boy Jorge Moreno! We talked a lot about the Book of Mormon and the influence it has in our lives. He is really interested and was super Hyped to start reading it. He also has a little cousin that likes to join in on our charlitas and I gave him a CTR ring. I have decided that children that speak Spanish are officially the cutest thing ever. It's so cool to see some of the people that move here and are just so willing to learn! Talk about humility because man!! It's a great example of how I can be more humble so I love it. It was a great time with him and I hope to continue to see him progress!
This week I personally focused a lot on member fellowship and it's a really important part of the work! Unfortunately, my companion is shy so most of the dinners, church interactions, and calls I do all the talking. It's good because I need the practice but ultimately I've been able to get to know a lot of the wonderful people around me. It's been great because I have so many connections for when I come back to Carson City! I have such a huge heart for these people here and I just can't help but smile when I see them! We have transfer news next week and I think my companion will be leaving... but we really need to know so I hope I stay!! We had lunch with one of our members and she told us a lot about her struggles. I was so grateful because even if I couldn't fix all her problems, I lended an ear to listen and my heart went out to her.
The longer I'm in the mission the more I realize that missionaries are still young as freaks. You think when they come out they're automatically mature, but nope. This week my companion and I came back from a few lessons pretty late and we realized that as we came in that some stuff had been moved. We saw some writings on a few Whiteboards, some stuff moved, and then... BOOM! I had something totally taken. I was sitting there like, "Um, they must not have read about the 10 commandments in Preach My Gospel because they just robbed me!" I give them a few texts and finally about 7 or 8 hours later I get notice that it's in Sparks and I can't get it until I transfer. They saw what I had, assumed I wasn't using it, and took it. Missionaries will be missionaries am I right?
This week in my free time I've been listening to a lot of General Conference talks. I stumbled across one by Jeffery R. Holland (Church renown GOAT) and it talked a lot about the importance of The Gospel of Jesus Christ in the family. I really enjoyed it because teaching a family the restored Gospel is one of the best things I've done. The message that we bring can unify them in this world now and for the one that comes after. Super cool thought and I'm extremely grateful for the family I have and the Gospel principles I was taught growing up.
This week was another good one! Transfers next week so I'll keep you guys posted. It's been crazy. It's almost been 10 months since I've been a missionary but man time is flying by fast. I hope it's the same for you! My brother graduated this week so if you haven't already reach out to him and say congrats! Super proud of him. Hope yall are enjoying the summer and I'll talk to you about the amazing gente next week! Be safe!
Helaman 5:12 - And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.
