Week 43
Que pasa mi gente?!?
I hope you all had a good week! I definitely had a very very solid week here. The weather was HOT (except yesterday, very very windy) and people are outside all day! It's so cool because when Élder LaDeaux and I go out we see so many people around us! OH YEAH! I bet you are all dying to know how my new companion is huh? I can literally read your minds right now, you're thinking, "Is he cool? Does he work hard? Is he funny? Does he pick his nose? Does he say some weird catchphrases? Is he short? Does he snore? To those questions I'll say some of them are yes and others are no and I'm going to let you take a guess on which ones are which. He is a really awesome Élder! He also is not too far where I'm from back at home. He lived in herriman Utah and he knows some people I went to high school with. Him and I have very similar music tastes, at least the one I had back home, and is a very very diligent missionary! He loves to tell me about how being assistant to the president was, what benefits he had and all that. We've been getting along pretty well so far! I've enjoyed his company and he is a very loving guy. I really do miss Élder Loria though. Surprisingly, Wednesday after I dropped him off I felt really sad. Him and I had a deep talk on the way up to Reno and we were definitely going to miss each other. He will be killing it up in Sparks but it's true that you make friends for life out here on your mission.
This week since it is the summer time I was able to talk to a lot of people. It was super cool to see a lot of the different lives people are living. We were out by 10:30am and usually weren't back until around 9:15-9:30 every night. I love what we have been able to do this week, but man I'm always tired. I love it because he and I can both keep up with each other and get going. We were able to find 24 new people to reach this week. We've met some awesome families and people. During the week we knocked on someone that the other missionaries in the area had taught and we asked if we could come inside and share a message. She told us that she had people over and they couldn't today, but my companion goes, "could I use the bathroom?" She said yes and I went to sit down and talk to the family. We ended up being there for an hour and had tostadas and talked about México. We shared a message at the end and after the prayer the owner of the house was crying. What awesome miracles happen when you're diligent and really are seeking to find those who are ready to listen to our message!
I think I might have said this when Élder Loria and I first became companions, but I don't think I've ever worked this hard. Coming back home almost on the brink of death by exhaustion is the most satisfying thing I can think of. It's been teaching me to just love every second of the hard work I do and that I know God will bless me in the process. I won't lie, it didn't come all that easy and there are some days when I just want to throw myself on my bed in my room and sleep for a whole day... But I'm willing to sacrifice my comfort so that others can hear this wonderful message that we carry.
I sincerely hope all of you had a good week this week. Things have been going well. I've been working on trying to get to know the Zone better and helping them feel more comfortable with my companion and I. It's been really cool to help out in a different capacity than before. We've been able to set up a lot of exchanges this week for the upcoming transfer so we're very excited!
Throughout the week I focused a lot on a personal pride cycle. I have found that sometimes I can fall into a personal cycle of pride where I can get ahead of myself and forget where all of my gifts and talents come from. I've been able to better recognize my faults and my pride, repent, and continue to remain humble so I can receive the blessings necessary to fulfill my duty in the work. I am also extremely grateful for the living Prophet we have today. A lot of times when I tell people we have a living Prophet they scoff or maybe even give a very weirdly audible chuckle followed by a head scratch. It's something I've been grateful for lately and I hope you have been too! I hope every single one of you has had a fantastic week! Once again feel free to reach out to me! Be safe!
3 Nephi 4:33 - And their hearts were swollen with joy, unto the gushing out of many tears, because of the great goodness of God in delivering them out of the hands of their enemies; and they knew it was because of their repentance and their humility that they had been delivered from an everlasting destruction.
