Week 45
Bueno bueno! Que lo que?
GUYS!!! This week was sooo good. Élder LaDeaux and I got to work this week. We decided that this week we wouldn't come back until at least 9 every single night! I'm happy because we definitely kept that goal! We broke it actually. Some nights we got home LATE. I am so grateful for this work and what I'm able to do. The summer time is the time to get out, talk to others, and share a message about Jesus Christ!! Man, I got some stuff to tell you guys so buckle in its gonna be a ride.
As you all know (I hope) Nevada is a desert. It's very dry and hot, especially in the summer. Carson City is a great place! Awesome people, great parks, not completely all brown, but there's one catch. NOT ALL HOUSES HAVE AIR CONDITIONING! Man I hope I don't seem spoiled but I might be. Our house doesn't have air conditioning or anything so the past few nights I've taken an extremely cold shower, then slept right next to the fan and I'm still burning hot. Oh Nevada, how I love it! The other morning I woke up and felt like I was just baking in the sun. Tip for anyone who wants to live here, visit here, or do anything here in Nevada for the summer... Invest in a swamp cooler. (Then give it to me!)
I had two exchanges this week! My first one was with Elder Walker. He is an amazing missionary and actually hasn't been out too long. This is his 3rd transfer and he is finishing training. Unfortunately for him, we were in my area. That means a lot of Spanish and not really much talking for him. Something funny is that when we came back from helping someone clear their yard, Elder Walker went and tried to wash his feet off in the tub. After he's done he tries to turn the tub off but it won't turn off. He runs to me as I'm making him some lunch and goes, "Um, I broke your shower." I went over there and not to my surprise, it was broken. We called our landlord and she told us we had to stay at home all afternoon to wait for the plumber. HAHAHAH missionaries can do that!! I mean we can if we are not wanting to work. Well, to my mother's surprise, I didn't heed this advice and I left and continued working. We came back for dinner and that's when he came! Pretty cool miracle if you ask me.
My other exchange was with the Assistants! I went with Élder Shepherd and man did we work hard. In the morning he and I worked out and daily planned and got ready. He likes to cook so he made me a very large breakfast, then he only had some yogurt. He is a very loving missionary and super consecrated. He inspired me a lot and told me something I really liked. He basically told me that I've got the basic missionary idea down. I know I want to work, I know how, and I know when. From this time until my mission ends, I will be refining. I have to find the little weaknesses and mistakes and make them better. I was so set back and I loved the advice he gave me. It was such an eye opener and man it was inspirational. Ever since then, I've been working on little things that I do and trying to be better so that I can be a great missionary. For example, for a lot of you who know me I used to say, "Yuh." I love saying it because it's so funny. However, in interactions with members and strangers, it comes off immature. I've been trying better to refrain from my Yuh so that I can continue refining myself!
This week was fantastic. I have so much to tell you all but I don't want to strain your eyes on your phones. I love this work and I've been enjoying my time here so much. My companion and I get along very well. I'm extremely over-the-top way above averagely blessed that I'm here. I miss my family and my friends don't get me wrong, but I know they all understand the importance of this work. I will tell you this, waking up at 6:30 doesn't get much easier once you're 10 months in. It seems to always be very hard.
I love you guys. Thanks for giving this a read! I hope your week was good like mine was. If not, shoot me an email and let's talk about it! I really have been trying to help others find joy in their lives because it brings me joy. What a fantastic time to be who we are. I hope you all know you can reach out to me! Enjoy this upcoming week and remember that God loves you!
3 Nephi 17
20 And they arose from the earth, and he said unto them: Blessed are ye because of your faith. And now behold, my joy is full.
21 And when he had said these words, he wept, and the multitude bare record of it, and he took their little children, one by one, and blessed them, and prayed unto the Father for them
