Week 47

Hola mis causas!! Que lo que?

Wow this week was definitely one made of miracles! Man I love being a missionary. This week is getting hot hot hot! We're expecting to be in high 90s low 100s... Wearing a white button up and a nice pair of slacks is not very desirable during the summer. However, this work sure is!! It's all worth it I promise hahaha

Yeah like I said, fantastic week! It's the last week of the transfer so by next email you'll know if I'm staying even longer in Carson City or if I'm leaving! We had a super busy week and it was pretty filled with a lot of walking and some good lessons. Recently Élder Perkins and I have been working out together on a more consistent basis and man I have loved it. Gets me energized, feeling happy, more effective, and of course... Absolutely ripped! Next thing you know you're going to see a 6'3 (Man, I wish) absolutely ripped dude and be like, "Wow! Élder LaTour you've changed so much!" then I'll respond, "You're looking at Élder Perkins, I'm over here." then you will see a pretty short dude who's got some white noodle arms. Hahaha but it's been good! Here's a few miracles/stories I've got for you guys!

This week we had a super tough day on Friday. We experienced some really negative things. As we were walking we saw these two guys outside a we said hi and introduced ourselves. They were very nice and seemed pleasant to talk to. They said the classic, "we know what you do." Then I go, oh shoot... Here we go. Then after that he started to absolutely go off on us. It was probably one of the most negative conversations I've had about religion. It was bad, and when we decided to leave the conversation he said some awful things as well. This took a toll on us for sure. Then we walked some more and got some middle fingers again and doors slammed on the face. We came back home and were like man that was tough. It was important that we Pointed it out because it made it easier to let it out. Then, woke up Saturday and everything seemed to go as smooth as peanut butter. (also, I've been addicted to peanut butter lately. It's so good) We had an amazing lesson with these guys we just found, so many awesome conversations with some random people on the road, perfect timing in every arrival we had. Super friendly interactions, even with people who weren't interested. I have no doubt in my mind that God led that day to teach me something. I remember that night in my prayers I tried so hard to look for the good in that day, however I know He recognized that and guided our next day to be amazing. God works among us every single day and it can be hard to see or really easy to see. Don't be the person who only sees in the good times! Look for Him when the times get hard and I promise you that you'll find it AND feel it!

We had an awesome lesson with a family from Nicaragua that wants to be baptized. Quick story about them, we walk in and we see Anderson. He's only a year older than I am and he was telling us about these brown shoes he didn't like. He brought them out and set them and my feet and asked me to try them on. I did and they fit and man they were cool. He goes, "they're yours." I refused and he insisted again. I once more refused, and a little less friendly told me to take them. It was so kind of him and it was so cool to see their willingness to learn and love for us. We had such an amazing lesson on Church and the importance of taking the sacrament. They promised they'd come this next week so if you could please keep them in your prayers to come this week that'd be amazing! Also, Anderson owns a Utah Utes hat and didn't even know what it meant! Hahaha I told him he's a Utes fan now and he was quite happy.

Time goes by fast. It feels like Élder LaDeaux and I just became companions yesterday. Him and I have gotten pretty close and I've really enjoyed our time together so far. He only lives around 15-20 minutes away from me at home so definitely want to visit him. The mission is just pure bliss. Ive learned so much and I am continuing to do so! I'm extremely excited for this upcoming week and I'll have to let you guys know how it goes too! Have a great week and feel free to reach out to me! Be safe!

Mormon 3:3 - And I did cry unto this people, but it was in vain; and they did not realize that it was the Lord that had spared them, and granted unto them a chance for repentance. And behold they did harden their hearts against the Lord their God.
