Week 49

BUENO BUENO BUENO!

Hey everyone! I'm alive and well! I made it safely to my new area in Elko! Okay, there is so much to tell you about this week and I don't want to just blow you away with how awesome and cool missionary work is... But I'm gonna try. I'm so happy to be here in Elko and it's been such a great time since I've got here!

First, Elko is GREAT! My new companion, Élder Rawlings, has come up with a great phrase we use here in Elko now. "HOMIES! HOMIES EVERYWHERE IN ELKO!" if that doesn't tell you what it's like over here, I don't know what to tell ya. We have been having a lot of fun getting to know the investigators, the area, and the members especially. Here we have members who feed us from the English wards, they also come out to lessons pretty much at any time, and DO YOUR LAUNDRY?! Hold up, I'm going back to when my wonderful and amazing mother did my laundry for me. It's so cool being out here!!! The phrase we use still stands

Just before I left to come up to Elko I was able to take a new missionary out! I mentioned it in my last email, and before anyone worries, no I didn't haze too much ;) the new missionary and I had lots of fun. He was so nervous but I really tried my best to give him the first night that any missionary could dream of! It wasn't perfect but I hope I did some good. We had lots of fun together and found a lot of people so it was a good time. He kept asking me to be his trainer and I couldn't help but smile because it was just the darn nicest thing ever. He actually ended up going back to Carson city for his training area and he and his companions with a good friend of mine down there!

Transfer day was hectic and stressful but also a bliss because I saw literally almost the entire mission. Good to see some missionaries going home, coming in, or just getting transferred to a new area. Get this though guys, I drove THE TRANSFER VAN! The assistants came up to me before transfers and say, "Sign this, you're driving everyone up to Elko in the van." you should've seen my face. It was mixed with excitement, nervous, annoyed, tired, and confused. I got everyone in the van and we were off! It was actually a lot of fun and I enjoyed driving it! 4 hour drives though are always killer hahaha. Especially on the mission! We played lots of Book of Mormon Baseball hahaha.

I got settled in nice to Elko and our apartment is quite spacious and nice. It's cool to have only 2 people there because I'm way more effective and can do a lot of studying in the free time I have. It's kind of sad though because everytime we pass the highway, which is quite often, it tells me that I can go to Salt Lake in just 200 or something miles. I was like DANG IT when I saw it hahaha. It's also funny because a lot of the members go to salt lake city weekly, so they have all been offering to take stuff down for me and drop it off at my parents house or visa versa

Now, not only do I cover the Spanish branch here in Elko but we cover a branch on an Indian reservation! It's called the Owyhee branch. There are about 15 active members and it's so cool! They're so nice and we actually got to go up there on Saturday. The branch president lives in Elko so we caught a ride with him. It's a 2 hour drive and man did I get tired on the way back! We had a branch party so we went and had food and met everyone and it was a good time! There is literally nothing out there and it's so cool to see the people and their farms and stuff.

Gosh, I love Elko already. How is it possible?! I thought Carson City was going to be harder to miss (I still miss it) but man it's been an adventure out here in Elko. The mission has truly helped me thrive, grow, learn, love, and teach. I love this work so much. I am coming up on my year and I can't believe it. I don't know if I can even think about being halfway done. I can truly say that I haven't felt this happy ever before. True happiness is found in Christ and in the service of others. I hope you all had a great week, equally or better than mine. I love this work! I love you all as well. Feel free to reach out to me! I feel so disconnected from yall so don't be afraid to shoot me an email! Be safe!

Ether 4:11 - But he that believeth these things which I have spoken, he will I visit with the manifestations of my Spirit, and he shall know and bear record. For because of my Spirit he shall know that these things are true; for it persuadeth men to do good.
