Week 50
Buenas mi gente curada!!!
How are you all doing?! I hope when you read that you were thinking well. It has been another crazy week here in the Mission! However, that is how we like it over here. That means we are busy, working hard, laughing a bit, getting some good food, and inviting the Spirit wherever we go. A lot of stuff happened this week and I do want to pick out the good parts for you all to read. You know like those highlight reels you see on YouTube for like LeBron or Curry? Yeah I am pretty much going to be doing that, but I am way cooler and have more highlights than both of those guys
- This week we had MLC! We drove down to Reno Thursday night and man was it long. On our way down there in this small town called Battle Mountain. There is a place called Mama's Pizza there and if the missionaries call they get free pizza. Well if anyone heard that you would not hesitate to call. We called and man I am so angry. I have to drive to The Armpit of America/Nevada to get it. (Not kidding, that is what they call it haha) It was a good time down in Reno and very inspiring stuff! A lot of driving and a lot of studying haha
- Yesterday we went up to Owyhee to the reservation to attend Church! My companion and I gave talks and it was actually a lot of fun. We had to wake up at 5am to be able to get ready and drive all the way up there to make it 30 minutes early. You wanna know what we did? We cleaned out the little building that was FILLED with Mormon Crickets. If you don't know the story, I suggest you look it up! It was so gross and just in the middle of the Sacrament a cricket was just vibing on the table. My companion was freaked out about touching it so I just went over and snagged it and threw it out the door lol.
- Yesterday we did an Old Lady run, which meant we went to all the single old ladies in the branch and sang to them. As we went over to one specific house, Hermana Alvarado, we got to meet her son. He has talked with us before but really doesn't like "John Smith" which I don't know who that is and we began talking about something interesting... Élder Rawlings and I brought up Élder Núñez. He had been in this area before so we figured they knew him. He responds with, "Oh yeah, the gay guy?" We started to die laughing. Élder Núñez is a good friend of ours and we love him to death and we give him a hard time. It was just so funny how this guy kept telling us that he was CONVINCED that he was gay. I don't know what was going on but it was really funny to hear!
- Well, ironically, Élder Núñez and I had an exchange this week after Zone Conference! It was a lot of fun and we have gone on some exchanges beforehand. Despite the fact that we give him a hard time, I really look up to the guy. He will go really far in life that Is for sure. We were able to find some good people together and spread the Light of Jesus Christ. He goes home soon and so does my current companion. It is getting weird to think!
Well, for the most part that was my highlight reel. I had a really good week and was blessed. It was 100% better than any LeBron or Curry highlights reel. Man, I love being a missionary! It is dang hard sometimes but it is so amazing. I have so much fun everyday and I could not imagine myself anywhere else right now! Something cool that happened between my Mission President and his wife went something like this: I was closing the van just before we left for Elko. I see my mission president and his wife come up to me. Of course, I said goodbye and that I will miss them but my Mission President didn't say a word. He came up to me and just gave me a hug. He said, "I love you Élder LaTour." Man, these random hugs! Haha I don't know what it is but I just felt so much love from him and his wife. Share the love that you have. Give your mom a hug, your companion, brother/sister, son/daughter whatever it is. You never know if they need it. I love this work! May God be with you all this week, now it is time to go lift rocks for laundry! Feel free to reach out to me! Be safe!
Ether 12:6 - And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.
