Week 52
Que pedo mi gente?
I was informed that the above saying has two meanings and I beg that those of you who speak Spanish think the same thing I did when I heard it. I hope this week went well for all of you! Man, sure was another great week for us here in Elko! We saw a lot of great success in enduring with patience and with diligence.
This week is my 1 year mark as a missionary. 52nd email, 52 weeks in a year, yeah you get it. It is crazy to think that I have been a missionary for over a year now! Feels like a month ago I was just arriving in Reno and absolutely terrified of everything! Now I can say with courage that I am not terrified of everything and I love this work! I can't wait to work for another year and help bring others closer to their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Cool miracle from this week, as Élder Rawlings and I were doing our daily run in El Paquete, we ran into a father and son who were just getting back from football practice. The father was particularly excited to talk to us because of his many questions about what we believed. He expressed to us some doubts and we just explained that we encourage seeking and looking when we have such questions. We then felt prompted to invite him to Church to come and see what we believe and how we worship. He said yes! Then came Sunday, he came to church. It was such a miracle to see that happen and I was really really excited when he came. What an amazing amount of faith he had to come and be with us. Afterwards, he said it was AMAZING so we were quite happy.
This week, we talked with a family we have been working with ever since I got here. The parents are not members, but come to church more often than those who actually are, and have 2 of their 3 sons baptized. Just this week we talked about getting the other baptized. They said yes and we are going to set a date this upcoming week! Oh man it is so cool to hear those desires come out of someone's mouth. Someone who really wants to progress and take action in their conversion to Christ. The Baptismal Covenant always inspires me and when we have someone willing and desiring to take that step, it is always exciting.
Man, I love this work SO much. Everyday is an absolute joy, even when it is hard. I love being able to talk to all these people here in Elko, discovering new places to walk around and teach, and of course... Coming to know my Lord and Savior. I can't wait to keep going, and hopefully encourage some of you on the way.
This week, for my year mark, I decided to make a video to show you guys what a day in the life of a missionary looks like. I hope you guys enjoy it and maybe get a chuckle or two out of it. I hope you all had a great week and that you all be safe! Feel free to reach out to me! Be safe! Chao!
D&C 24:8 - Be patient in afflictions, for thou shalt have many; but endure them, for, lo, I am with thee, even unto the end of thy days.
