Week 53
Hola buen día!!
How is everyone doing? I hope well because man it's been a great week here in Elko! It's been a weird weather week because literally throughout the entire day it's been raining/cloudy. Lucky for us so we don't absolutely burn to a crisp, but also not lucky for us because everyone likes to stay inside and cozy up I guess. Hahaha I love this work so much, it's crazy to think I only have a year more! Man, time flies by fast. I hope you guys enjoyed the video I made, not too bad I hope.
Just this past week Élder Rawlings and I got kicked out of our apartment. Yeah, lame. We had a leak in our bathroom and we had someone come check it out. He fixed it, then later someone came and did the water damage Inspection. He comes over, does his thing, looks at us and says, "Well, you're going to have to move out boys!" Élder Rawlings and I started to cheer a little bit in our minds... But then realized the hassle that'd be, they have to rip out of the bathroom wall and the floor and clean the water out and replace some things so we wouldn't have a bathroom for a week. So, we now have moved in with some other elders that have a two floor duplex (it's pretty nice) and a laundry machine! Kind of cool but we have a tiny room with our mattresses just on the floor, it honestly doesn't matter at all, I just consider this place "home base" for when I come back after working all day haha
We put our friend Axel on date this week! He will be baptized September 17th! Such an exciting time for him. His father was able to swallow his pride and let his son be baptized. He also wants to do it in Lamoille river so we've been asking around for a while to see what we can do. He is such an awesome boy. He is 11 but he loves his parents, and especially his Father in Heaven. We will be continuing to work with him these upcoming weeks to prepare him more for Baptism!
Cool little miracle that happened this week... We were tracting around this little neighborhood and didn't end up having any really successful contacts or anything. As we were walking up a hill we saw a moving truck. We get closer and closer and Elder Rawlings and I whisper to each other, "Please let us help please let us help!" as we get closer someone says, "wanna help?" and of course we said yes! We spent an hour or so helping these people transfer all this stuff into a moving truck and lifting all of the heavy stuff they couldn't. It was so awesome and we just felt so much love for this little family. They were so kind and even bought us some lunch. It was fun to get to know them and also lend a hand to help them. Service is so rewarding and not in a worldly or temporal way, it just really builds that charity in yourself. We all know the saying/scripture, Charity is the pure love of Christ. That's all I want to share with others, is the Pure Love of Christ.
Today is my Mom's birthday! YAYAYAY! Everyone wish her a happy 35th birthday. This week I was studying the roles specifically in a family setting. The one that has always fascinated me is the role of a Mother. They care, nurture, love, and teach the children in such a unique way. I have no doubt in my mind that Man and Woman were made for a specific purpose each. It's crazy to think how perfectly it all has worked out. I'm very grateful for my wonderful parents, and today especially for my beautiful, funny, hardworking, and selfless mother! If you get a chance, reach out to her and send some birthday wishes!
I love this work so much. Do I say that a lot? I hope I do, because I mean it. This has changed me a lot. There was a quote that I read this week that stuck out to me like white on black. It says, "You [aren't] the same person because the Atonement of Jesus Christ is real" Man, this stook out to me so much and just shot me out of my chair. It's so true and I've definitely seen that change in me, and it's only possible through the Lord Jesus Christ. Thanks for giving this a read! I hope you all have a great week, and I invite you to search the ways the Atonement of Jesus Christ has changed your life. Have a good week! Feel free to reach out to me and be safe!
D&C 35:9 - And whoso shall ask it in my name in faith, they shall cast out devils; they shall heal the sick; they shall cause the blind to receive their sight, and the deaf to hear, and the dumb to speak, and the lame to walk
