Week 54

Como andan?!

Man, time goes by really fast! I look at the title of this email and see "Week 54" and I think to myself, "Wow, I have been out here a long time! And for a good time" Hahahaha, it's been a good week. It was a little harder than usual, but nothing we can't get past right? We had a lot of traveling to do which isn't always the most fun. We went to Reno again for Mission Leadership Council and it was... Alright! Usually I am excited but as of recently I just feel like the 5 hour drive and the gas money spent on us coming out there for a short meeting can be a waste... But I have faith! I definitely was inspired to be a better leader and missionary!

We got transfer news! I'll be staying here with my companion for his last transfer. Him and I are very excited to continue working with one another. I might have said this before, but I truly have lucked out on companions. It's been so much fun being with him and I know we will work very very hard for his last transfer. I love it here in Elko! It's so awesome. A small town, but it has my heart already. I've definitely said this when I first received my mission call, "Reno? Why not Argentina, Chile, México, o lo que sea?" However, now I have realized it doesn't matter where you are serving. It just matters what you do in that place! I have grown to love this area and it's very close for me to visit afterwards! I'm very blessed to be here, just wanted to say that so my Mom is happy.

This week we had some lessons with a lot of people in our area who are progressing. Our friend Axel, who is on baptismal date, wants to be baptized in Lamoille river so we have been figuring out how we can do that. His dad has also not been baptized because of a marriage issue in Mexico. This week he told us he has been talking with a lawyer in the area to get it figured out! We hope to get him baptized because he's been waiting years to do it! We also had a great lesson with Raymundo and we talked a lot about baptism and the Priesthood. Élder Rawlings and I just kept being so bold with our explanations and also of our love for him. There is no greater feeling than helping someone understand the Doctrine of Christ!

This past week we saw the Sister's investigator working in a house while we were tracting. We talked and she eventually invited us over for dinner. Fast forward to that night, we went over and she has 3 little kids and her brother and husband living with her. We go in and man, talking to little kids in Spanish has to be the cutest thing ever. They sound so proper and so happy all the time. I don't know what it is, but I was in shock! We shared an absolutely delicious meal with them! I literally came out of that dinner changed on how I eat Mexican food. Mexican food goes so hard and I'm grateful for their kindness to share a meal with us. Her oldest son, Antonio, said to us (but in Spanish), "What do you want to learn from the teacher? Girls? Dates?" Élder Rawlings was dead and I couldn't keep it together either. Just to say, I now have an increased knowledge on how to date girls.

Like I said, this week was a bit tougher. But remember, things like this happen and there is always something you can do to make it better. My point of this though, is that God has put opposition in our life. He has made it so that we can know between Good and Bad, Happiness and Sadness, Righteousness and Sin. Without this, we would not be able to progress or really make a change to go in any direction. If you can't tell, I studied 2 Nephi 2 this week and it was truly eye opening. I love opposition and it truly gives us so many open doors to choose from. I love this Gospel! My studies are absolutely incredible. Every morning gets easier to wake up now which is nice! I also love my Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. I hope you all have had a good week and will have one this next week! Please feel free to reach out to me, be safe!
