Week 55

Como andan? Ojalá que esten bien!

Man, this week was really hot. I remember looking at the weather this week and my heart sank to the floor! It has been 99 all week and man, Satan is trying hard to keep us from the work. Not a whole lot of people are outside, missionaries are tired from the heat... But we keep on moving forward! Just drink some water, say a lot of prayers, and get to work! Just a few days ago Élder Rawlings looked at me while we were walking around and just let all of his complaints out. We both laughed after, but man I was really nervous because he was super upset. It's definitely healthy to do that though, so I was happy he did. The weather can be a tough variable to get around, but I know without a doubt that we can fulfill our missionary purpose regardless of what happens with the world around us!

This week was transfer week! I didn't move so I didn't do much right? Wrong. Élder Rawlings and I ended up doing quite a bit. We first moved back into our own apartment this week yay! It is nice to have our own place and have it be a bit quieter and cleaner. It took us a little bit to get everything in, but we got all settled in and saw some gross stuff left behind from other missionaries that the workers uncovered. During that we got a call asking to help someone move a fridge into their trailer. It took us so long and it was very difficult, but like I said there's nothing we can't do without God! We got that refri in and she gave us some tamales the next morning. Then on Wednesday since we've opened a new area here in Elko, we set up a new apartment for some missionaries. It was fun, kind of... But man the heat was killer! Élder Rawlings and I are trying to unpack this storage shed in 100 degree weather inside a hot box... Not ideal. However, we had some Alex Zurdo to help!

We had our friends Raymundo and Humberto come to church yesterday! It was so awesome to see them there. We had fast and testimony meeting and Raymundo said he liked them! Man it made me feel so good and I was able to Testify of the importance of the Sabbath Day and what it means to me. Here on the mission, Sundays aren't too much different besides the fact that we are going to Church. However, back at home Sundays were a day to set apart from the others and sanctify it for our Heavenly Father. I'm very grateful for Sundays and all that it brings! It's a time to be with family, our Father, and rest. It was a cool lesson we had with him about it and he told us, "I'm going to stop working and follow the sabbath day" without us even saying anything! He is truly elect and we are excited to help him progress to baptism.

I can't believe it's September already. It is just blowing my mind how fast things are going. It feels like maybe a month ago I just arrived in Reno after panicking on a plane the whole time. It feels like a couple weeks ago I left my first trainer and got a new companion, nervous and experienced. I am beyond grateful for my mission and everything I've learned so far. I've been seeing a lot of people start their missions these past few weeks and all I can say is... Yes! Great job! Get ready for the most fulfilling 2 years or 18 months of your life. Use every moment of it to its fullest and don't let it slip behind you!

Hope you all are well. Stay cool! Be safe and feel free to reach out to me!

2 Nephi 10:24 - Wherefore, my beloved brethren, reconcile yourselves to the will of God, and not to the will of the devil and the flesh; and remember, after ye are reconciled unto God, that it is only in and through the grace of God that ye are saved.
