Week 56

Como andan?!

Hey everyone! Man, this week was... Tiring! My companion and I don't know what it was, but we were just trucked every single night. I guess that's a good thing because that means we are working hard out here! It's been an interesting weather change as well. When we went out running this week I was about to freeze to death! Such a huge change, but hey winter was bound to come. We fortunately had a lot of success this week in finding some new people to teach! These past few weeks it's been hard to find some new people but this week we were able to find a lot of new friends to share the Gospel with!

Last night we had a great lesson with our friend raymundo. He is truly progressing and he even went to church when we weren't there! We were at the branch up on the Indian reservation yesterday and he still came to church without us! It's such a great step and definitely in the right direction. He is a slow learner so we have to teach some things over and over but man he loves it when we come over! Of course his always drunk friend Humberto doesn't cease to crack us up. The other day he fell and got a cut on his head and said he got it from falling out of a plane. He also told us he speaks Chinese, so we asked him what some things meant in Chinese and he just told us in Spanish. I love them both so much and they have come a long way!

Unfortunately we didn't have any time to meet with our friend Axel who is going to be baptized. It was supposed to be this week but we might have to move it back until we make sure he is taught everything and gets his interview done! It's such a cool process to help someone progress towards Making that covenant! Of course, we're only a small part of it. He has to make all the decisions because this is HIS promise with God, not ours. It can be easy to kind of think that it's all on our shoulders but it's not. All we do is invite and teach and they have to do everything else! Wish Élder Rawlings and I good luck this week as we continue working with him.

I had the opportunity to go on two exchanges this week and they both were on the tougher end. Both of these missionaries are unfortunately less motivated than usual and have a different mindset of the work than I do. Something that saddened me was one of the Elders I was working with was blatantly not kind to me. He would shut the door on my face before I got in the house, back the car up before I got in so I'd drop my things, or whatever the childish thing may be. Ironically, or I guess I could say perfectly, my goal was to share a great amount of love towards this missionary. It was tough, but I can claim I tried my best. Love dispels all anger and disrespect. I saw through that day, that love goes a long way and changes attitudes and perspectives. I definitely wasn't perfect, I did throw in a few, "Élder, come on"s in there. However, overall I definitely learned something valuable. Hope you could take something away from my little experience that I had!

I have had an amazing time on my mission. I know what you're thinking right now, "Oh my gosh he says this every email." Yes, you are right. But through study of the scriptures we know that repetition of something signifies great importance. For real, I have been blessed beyond my imagination to be out here as a servant of The Lord. I have met so many amazing people and they have all had an effect in my life. I just remember thinking this week when I was so tired of how much I have truly been able to do in a short 56 weeks of missionary work. It's been Inspiring to know that I can always give more.

Like I said, this week was great. We had lots of fun and laughed. I love teaching people of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ! I have been trying recently to make my morning prayers in specific a bit better. It can be a habit just to get up, say a quick prayer and get on with your day. Those morning prayers give you that boost you need! They give you that drive, that love, that desire to get out there and do some good. I am steadily increasing the quality of my prayers in the morning and I just thought I'd share that with yall! Hope you have a great week and enjoy the cooler weather! Feel free to reach out to me and be safe!
