Week 59
Muy buenos días a todos!
Man, this week and weekend was just filled with some spiritual rejuvenation! General Conference was incredible and out here in Elko you already know we made the best of it. We were able to be with some members and watch it so that was really fun. Unfortunately, we didn't have any of our friends come and watch it with us... In person. We sent the link out and we had some people saying they watched it! Man it's so awesome to know that we can hear from our Prophet and use this guidance for these next 6 months!
This week we had an interesting flow of things going on. Our week started off great with an exchange with the elders in Wells and then afterwards a lot of good lessons. We recently haven't been having a whole lot of sit down, focused up, ready to teach kind of lessons. They've been on the fly and hard to really get across to people. We have a new friend we've been teaching who wants to be baptized! His name is George and he is super sick. His wife is a member and he has always talked to us about being baptized, he just wasn't sure how to go about it. We taught him the first lesson and man it was powerful! We can't wait to see him progress more and more towards this goal of baptism :)
We went down to Reno this week and man that was long, the drive down is just filled with sage brush and a few ranches here and there. It's awesome and not. It's awesome because we get to meet with the leaders of the Mission, see some old friends, talk about how we can improve the mission... Sounds all good right? That's in theory. Sometimes it ends up being an inefficient and repetitive meeting. It is not a big deal for those in the Reno area, but for us in Elko since we have to drive 5 hours we have 2 days where we can't work in our area... Which is a long time! This last one I definitely felt like the stuff we talked about could've been in a text message or email... But oh well! We keep moving forward right?
Like I said, this week was General Conference and man it was very very good. Always rejuvenates me and gives me some extra motivation for these next 6 months. If you didn't get a chance to listen to it or watch it then I highly recommend it, very high. It has a lot of great counsel and spiritually inspired guidance that is meant for our day! We got to watch it by ourselves for the first session (which I thought was lame) but it was a fantastic opportunity for me to actually take in and reflect on the words being said. Seriously, if you haven't listened to it, drop the phone and go watch it. Well, you actually need your phone so I guess get off this email and go watch it!
Another week has flown by. Wow. My companion goes home this next week which is crazy! Him and I haven't gotten really close and he is still a fantastic missionary working as hard as he can which has been impressive to say the least. It's crazy too that I've only got around 10 months left. Never thought I would reach this point! What has inspired me is that to see his desire to make sure he leaves the mission doing everything he was called to do. I want to work everyday like I'm going home next week!
I hope all of you are doing well. I hope life is busy
I hope you're with your families and enjoying the time you have with them. I hope you've got friends who you're inspiring and uplifting with your example. Most of all, I hope you're increasing your own testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ. Have a great week and feel free to reach out to me! Be safe!
Jacob 4:11 - Wherefore, beloved brethren, be reconciled unto him through the atonement of Christ, his Only Begotten Son, and ye may obtain a resurrection, according to the power of the resurrection which is in Christ, and be presented as the first-fruits of Christ unto God, having faith, and obtained a good hope of glory in him before he manifesteth himself in the flesh.
