Week 60
Muy buenos días!
Hey guys! Man, this week was great! Élder Rawlings and I named this week Grind Week since it was his last full week in the mission field. We called it that because we wanted to go as hard as we possibly could to just spread the Gospel. When he said that at the beginning of the week I was like, "I thought every week was grind week..." but I guess not because we had surpassed a lot of our progress from the previous week! Now I'm going to make every week Grind Week because man it was so much fun. We were able to set up a lot of lessons and have many teaching opportunities. It's so fun to just sit down and get to know someone then BOOM the Gospel of Jesus Christ gets introduced into their lives.
Well, as you know the story my good pal Élder Rawlings goes home this week. He flies out on Thursday! Oh how I'll miss him. We have become pretty good friends these past 2 transfers and we have known each other for as long as I've been out on the mission. Crazy stuff, but life goes on! However, I have some absolutely incredible news to share with all of you... I'M GOING TO BE TRAINING A NEW MISSIONARY!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I have been praying and praying for Heavenly Father to give me such a great opportunity and it happened. Our mission President called us yesterday in the middle of us knocking on a door. We saw it and just slowed back away from the door. I am extremely excited (and nervous) so this next transfer will be amazing. I leave Tuesday night with my companion back down to Reno to go pick up my boy, wish me luck! Like I said, I am absolutely so honored and excited to train a brand new missionary!
We taught our friend Raymundo yesterday and we were able to really talk about how the Spirit works and how He communicates with us. He really liked it and we eventually talked about baptism. He expressed some concerns of embarrassment and hesitant feelings. However we reassured him of the sacredness and also epicness of a baptism! He was comforted and we even got him to pray for the first time. It has been a challenge to get him to pray and he finally did it! What an amazing spirit and we basically started to cheer and jump for joy after the prayer.
For Grind Week this week I found myself a lot of times doubting my own ability. It's easy to do when you have a great companion like mine. I'm kidding (also not) but it can still get to you. I've realized a lot that God takes you and accepts you and transforms you. I've been molded so much by Him these past 14 months I've been out here. It's a Rollercoaster ride but I can truly say I'm becoming a greater and better Disciple of Jesus Christ.
Another week ahead means more work to be done. I never get tired of this work. It's refreshing, rewarding, rejuvenating, and fulfilling. I hope you're all doing well! I'll have to let you know who my new missionary is doing next week so keep him in your prayers! Love you all and feel free to reach out to me! Be safe!
