Week 63

Buenos días a todos! Como están?!

I hope yall had a great week! October is coming to an end, man that's crazy! Today is Halloween too so I hope y'all get an opportunity to get some candy or what not. This week was a really good one actually and it went by pretty fast! We had a lot to do everyday so it made it a lot more enjoyable for me. When you're not busy, the time goes by like a snail but luckily here in Elko there is plenty to do! (unless it's PDAY)

We had an awesome experience this week! We were trying to meet with our friend George for the entire week so we can try to set a date for his baptism. We would set up something and he got too tired or he was caught up at work. We had a lesson set for the next week and Elder Kroff gets a text and goes, "What are we doing November 5th?" I say, "I don't know, why?" he responds, "Well, George wants to be baptized" Man I got up out of the chair and started jumping for joy. It was so cool to hear that he was finally ready to take this step! So this week we will be baptizing our awesome friend George and we are really excited. He is so awesome and has really come to know his Savior! Watch out next week for a new member of the Spanish Branch here in Elko!

This week we got an emphasis on working more with the members in our areas. We talked a lot about how they can help us further the work and how it can make a huge difference. I remember thinking, "We have about 15 members we could visit, how effective can this really be?" I just remember right after that one of the missionaries looked at me and said he had some tips for me and my companion being in a small branch. I think it's cool how the Lord works through His servants to communicate to us!

I like to keep busy and get going fast. I had two exchanges this week and one of them I'll mention here. I was on this exchange and it was nice because this elder had been out just a little longer than me and we really got into the groove quick. We worked hard and talked to a lot of people! We found a lot of Spanish Speakers in their area and it was the biggest win we could take! Made me so happy to see them over there too. Anyways, this Élder and I had a lot of fun and something he told me was to "pick your battles" . I had been struggling with some things in this context with corrections to others and myself. I got an impression to open up to him about these struggles and he was more than happy to help. I really liked this concept of picking the battle you actually want to win. It helped me realize that not everyone can do everything all the time, but we can pick a battle to win now. And of course, the saying goes... The more battles you win, the better chance you can win the war. Gosh dang some wise words!

Like I had said earlier, this week was great. We met a few new friends and had some fun times! I really do love the mission. It is mind blowing to think how long I've been out here and how much I have left. Élder Kroff helps me feel young again and I really enjoy it. Teaching others about Christ is the greatest opportunity given to man here on earth. There was a talk that I really liked from this most recent General Conference by Élder Renland, "A Framework for Personal Revelation '' that you should give a read because it is powerful! Personal revelation is a gift and true sign of the Love God has for us. Thanks for reading my splatter of words. I hope y'all have a great week and that you all know you can feel free to reach out! Be safe!

Mosíah 18:10 - Now I say unto you, if this be the desire of your hearts, what have you against being baptized in the name of the Lord, as a witness before him that ye have entered into a covenant with him, that ye will serve him and keep his commandments, that he may pour out his Spirit more abundantly upon you?
