Week 67

Como andan?!

Man this week was FIRE! Gosh dang I love weeks like these. It's always rejuvenating to have a change and as well to be able to work super hard in a new area! Over here is great. I'm living in the Reno-Stead area which is just north of Reno. It's cool over here because it's a lot of warehouses and company buildings which a lot of people work in. Then of course, it's got a bunch of different houses and neighborhoods so that means lots of people! My new companion's name is Elder Bird! He is super cool. He's from Oregon, loves to sing and play music, and has improved his Spanish a lot since when he first got here! Oh man I'm so lucky to be here and be in this new area.

Just a few stories to throw in this week's email... In my last time visiting our friend Raymundo we talked a lot about repentance and change. We had a great lesson with him and he usually doesn't pray. However, I asked him to pray since I would be leaving the area. He did and man the Spirit was strong! Afterwards I even saw a tear be shed. I'm gonna miss him! We found out too literally the day before I left that we share a birthday haha. Small world and of course God directs you to those who need you.

I came to stead Wednesday night after a long drive in the "Transfer Van" with some other missionaries. I figure out I'm living in a quad with some other elders. Now, for you veterans out there who have been reading these emails for a while... Here is a good story. So back in December of last year I told a story about how I predicted someone's mission call. Quick recap, when I was in Alaska before my mission with my family we went to a lodge to enjoy the week. There are people that work there and one of the guys that was working there mentioned that he is putting in his mission papers. We talk about it and I tell him, "I bet you go to the Nevada Reno Mission.'' He laughs and laughs and we move on. In December of that same year I met him in the hotel on his very first day of his mission here in the NRM. Well, now I live with him! He and his new missionary are with me in my quad and it's been a blast. We've gotten close in just a week so that's been so great. Oh How God works in our lives!!

This area has so many places to find people to teach! Also, the branch is pretty big! I bore my testimony and introduced myself so that was really fun. They are all so welcoming and open. Thanksgiving day I was luckily able to get to know a lot of them and introduce myself...and have lots of food. We have had some cool lessons with some less active members and as well some investigators. I love this area oh my gosh!! We found this one couple while walking around a trailer park. My companion wanted to knock on the door of a likely latino and when we did they immediately let us in and fed us. The culture is lit.

I love change. I've learned to thrive on it really. Sometimes it can be hard and sometimes it's easy. This time must have been a lot easier for me than the last transfer. I'm ready to move forward and continue to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I have learned a lot and something I really enjoyed this week is the example of Christ. He teaches so well and I have so much to learn from what He does. I was reading John 13 this week and it is one of my favorite stories and truly shows the humility and love of The Savior, highly recommended. I hope all of you are well and are safe! Feel free to reach out to me! Can't wait for another week of miracles to come up.

John 13:14 - If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another’s feet.
