Week 67

Buenos Días y Feliz Navidad!

Christmas time already?! How can it be? I feel like I just had my last Christmas and here I am on my last one for my mission. Time flies by so fast and I can't believe it. There is a quote in Ferris Bueler's day off I really like about how time passes by pretty quickly. If you know, help me out. This week was really great. Élder Bird and I have been able to work and get some more stuff moving here in our area. I feel bad for my boy Élder Bird because he has been sick like ever since I've got here. We will be walking or knocking on a door and man will hack out a lung almost. We are getting along well and I'm super grateful for his efforts in spreading the gospel to others despite his fears or nervousness.

We were able to teach a lot of people this week! In Elko we did teach people... But not a whole lot. Here it's awesome because we get to really teach people how to come closer to Christ and it just thrills me. We had a lesson with an older gentleman named Antonio just yesterday. We read Luke 2 about the birth of Christ. As I'm explaining a little bit of why the story is important, his 15 year old dog starts walking around. It's blind and almost completely deaf. As he was walking around he was bumping into things and sticking his paws out to almost feel where he was going. He makes his way over to me and sniffs my shoe. As I am going to ask a question to this wonderful man, I look down at his dog, maybe about 4 inches in front of me. He then begins to pee all over the floor! I sat there so confused and immediately kicked my feet up so the pee didn't get on my shoes. Élder Bird and I made eye contact and pinched each other to make sure that was real. We helped clean it up but man that dog knew what was up.

We had our branch Christmas party this past week too. We were also on exchanges! For you veterans that have been reading my emails since I came out, I got to go on an exchange with Élder Hardman! He was the first exchange I got to go on in the mission. We had a lot of fun and were able to get to work quickly and efficiently. We had bikes in the morning portion of our exchange and we wanted to go to an area that is literally pure uphill. It was tough and it reminds me how important leg day is, but it was so worth it. We met this awesome woman and were able to hear a bit of her story with her grandchildren and her life. We gave her a Plan of Salvation pamphlet to offer hope and peace and she was so willing to read it. Gosh this work is so great!

Our Christmas party was awesome. The members here are pure in heart and know the importance of Christ. We performed the nativity scene and I was a "Pastor" or Shepherd for you English speaking folk. It was a little hectic but the songs we sang brought me great joy and made me even more excited for this Christmas season.

This past week I've been able to reflect a lot about my desires for this Christmas season. I've realized that 17 years of my life I didn't really understand Christmas. It wasn't until last year and now this year where I got it. It's all about Him! It is the Christmas season! It's been a blast talking to others about His birth and how important He is today. I love reading Luke 2 to sweet and humble families who love God in their hearts. What a wonderful time of the year and how blessed I am!

Like I said, this week was awesome. I hope you all have a great week coming up and begin to feel the Christmas spirit! If you guys ever need anything feel free to reach out! And of course and always, be safe! Talk to you next week carnales!

Alma 26:30 - And we have suffered all manner of afflictions, and all this, that perhaps we might be the means of saving some soul; and we supposed that our joy would be full if perhaps we could be the means of saving some.
