Week 68

COMO ESTÁN CARNALES?!

Yoooo this week was another semana fantástica! Gosh darn I really don't like the cold. It's not as cold as Elko, but these past few days it's been snowing pretty heavily. We had a lot of awesome opportunities to shovel driveways for others and that definitely made it all worth it. However, walking around with the snow coming down on your neck, not fun.

We had a lot of success this week. My companion and I found some new people to start teaching which has been really nice. I came into the area and I loved to talk to the people that they had taught previously, but I wanted to find some people that my companion and I could teach! There are a lot of cool Latinos here in the Stead area and man I love it. It's so rejuvenating to be here in a new area and have people that don't know me! In Elko I think just about every latino knew who I was.

We were teaching a less active this week and something funny was going on the whole time. He is a super nice guy and something he loves saying is "Carnal" which is Mexican Spanish for "Homie" or "Bro." This word was funny and I laughed the first two times, but everytime he would address us in a sentence, it wasn't "Elderes" it was "Carnales" Now, Elder Bird and I say Carnal to each other about everyday to remember that funny moment.

The work has been good. With Christmas time coming people seem to be interested in a Christmas Message! It's cool that we get to talk about the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. We've had a lot of people be very grateful and kind to the offer of our message. Whether they accept it or not is between them and their Heavenly Father, but it's been amazing to share these things. I love it here in Stead and I have had a lot of fun with my District, my Zone, and my companion. I know I'm here doing the things I need to do!

OK, maybe you will remember but a while ago I mentioned my desire and impulse to be perfect. On this thought, just yesterday I read about Charity and Love and how I could develop this for those I'm teaching and serving. Of course my perfectionist mindset kicked in and I wanted to love everyone perfectly and have everything go smoothly. Something I learned so quickly is that Love and Charity take development and time. It works when you can look at someone and feel a genuine care for them and their salvation. I've been trying to increase my ability to do so because these people deserve it!

Man, another week in the books. Time flies by way too fast. I wrote week 68 just barely and I think my heart dropped a little. I can't believe I've come so far and I have not too much left on my mission. I got to cherish every second of it! Love yall, I hope your week was great as we are getting into the Christmas season. ¡Feliz navidad! Be safe and feel free to reach out to me!

Alma 31:38 - And the Lord provided for them that they should hunger not, neither should they thirst; yea, and he also gave them strength, that they should suffer no manner of afflictions, save it were swallowed up in the joy of Christ. Now this was according to the prayer of Alma; and this because he prayed in faith.
