Week 72
Muy buenos días mis cuates!
Oh man, another week just flies by! Does time pass by differently when you are a missionary? Am I in a different time zone from the world? I don't know how to explain it but it just seems that everyday just zips by and you don't even have a chance to think about it. I guess that is a good thing for my mom so she can see me sooner, right? Hahaha this week was filled with some cool miracles and exciting things coming up too! This past week I said goodbye to Young King himself, Elder Bird. It was a moment of sorrow, but I know he is killing it in downtown Reno. I was able to pick up my brand new missionary! He is quite interesting and we seem to get along well. His name is Elder Seaquist and is from Alpine, UT. He has a cool story! He was baptized at 14 and actually went to my high school for about a year too. We have been getting to work and being so bold with everyone in sharing the Gospel! Oh man, I just love it so much. I can already tell we are going to work hard and really move this work forward.
Just yesterday our mission President asked us to fast for guidance to know who needs to be focused on in our area. We were asked to do so that we can spend our time more practically and be where the Lord needs us to be. As I fasted yesterday I really enjoyed the spiritual strength and power I received from doing so. We were able to teach with clarity and simplicity and I have no doubt it was the Spirit of God that helped us. However while I was praying throughout the day I didn't have anyone come to mind nor thoughts of the possibility, just blank. I kept praying throughout the day and right when we ended our fast after I asked that last time... Boom. I got two names of 2 people we are teaching. It could not have been more clear in my mind who it was. It was so cool! My companion and I were so happy hahaha.
We were knocking doors and we happened to knock on this one door of a woman who is a Jehovah's Witness. Super nice woman and even let us pet her dog. We got to talking and again I asked her a little bit about what she believes and what their Doctrine is based on. As I gathered more information I asked her if I could have one of the New World Translation Bibles. She looked at me with a smile and told us to come back the next day to come pick it up. We go back a day later and she hands us a pamphlet and a Bible. I began to thank her and she says, "I am willing to hear something from you guys too." WOAAAAHHHHH LET'S GO!!!! Haha totally did not expect that. We gave her a Book of Mormon and testified of its truthfulness and invited her to read and afterwards pray about it. She said she would! Man it was so cool. I got a cool looking Bible and a translation I am not familiar with and she got a Book of Mormon! Win Win!
This past week as well we were able to talk to some really cool people and have some awesome experiences. We met this one family just last night and we knocked on their door just from a prompting. We did and they immediately invited us in and we were able to share an uplifting message! Oh it was so cool and it just makes me appreciate these things a lot more. When we go in and teach a family or a person it just really makes me appreciate the Gospel knowledge I have and as well the actual Gospel. We get to teach a lot of people and I love it so much. When you see their faces brighten because of what we say or how they feel it just makes my day!
I love this work. I cannot believe that I only have 7 months left on my mission. Has it been that long? Have I really been out here 17 months? Oh gosh I don't want to believe it. Just a few days ago I really was reflecting on the change that has occurred in me internally. I have had such a change of heart and it's all towards Jesus Christ. I have truly seen when we try to emulate Him, follow His example and His teachings, we are blessed and protected. I really am excited to keep teaching here in the Reno-Stead area for as long as God will let me.
I hope you all had a great week! Thank you so much to everyone who reached out to say Happy birthday! Being 20 is weird, that is all I can say. You guys are all awesome in your own way, know that! Have a great week this week and always remember to be safe and feel free to reach out!
Helaman 3:29-30 - Yea, we see that whosoever will may lay hold upon the word of God, which is quick and powerful, which shall divide asunder all the cunning and the snares and the wiles of the devil, and lead the man of Christ in a strait and narrow course across that everlasting gulf of misery which is prepared to engulf the wicked--
And land their souls, yea, their immortal souls, at the right hand of God in the kingdom of heaven, to sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and with Jacob, and with all our holy fathers, to go no more out.
