Week 77

Wowowow que paso?!

Time flies by too fast. Didn't I just write you all an email? Man haha I can't believe it's been a week already. I had a fantastic week! Some amazing stuff happened and We saw some really really cool miracles! We also had transfer news so that always makes it fun and interesting right?

To start off, transfer news! I'm staying here with my trainee here in the same area. I'm really excited because I have my friend Alejandro who will be baptized here in the next month and I'm glad I get to work with him still! We've seen a lot of progress with him and we love to meet with him weekly. We went over the commandments (Well, not me because I was away on exchanges) and he loved each and every single one and said they made total sense! Kind of cool how the Lord prepares His people to accept the gospel when it is their time! We got him a magnifying glass so that he can read the Scriptures more and not struggle haha.

I had a really great opportunity this weekend to go back down to Carson city where I spent 6 months of my mission and saw someone that I had FOUND be baptized with his wife. I remember distinctly the impression I had to walk up the alleyway he lived in. We walked past him and my companion wouldn't talk to him, but I summoned every bit of courage to go up to him and use my broken Spanish to share my favorite verse about Christ... And he accepted another appointment for us to come back. I walked up to them and congratulated them and asked if they remembered me and they said (in Spanish) "Pfft of course we do! How could we forget the missionary who started our path here." I almost shed a tear at that very moment. It's crazy to see the small effect you think you have on someone and what it turns out to be in the future. I also got to see a lot of branch members I had gotten so close to there and was able to catch up with each of them. God is so good! The church is so true!

We got to do baptisms in the temple this last week with our recent convert Gabriel! It was his first time in the temple and man how special that was! I was able to be baptized by him and it was just the coolest thing ever. To think he was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints only a few months prior and is now baptizing missionaries. So cool! I was able to do some family names as well from my dad's side of the family. It's cool to be baptized with the people with the same last name! He walked into the temple and literally stumbled because of the Spirit that was present! Yeah, the temple is pretty cool.

Élder Seaquist and I had dinner with a member couple last night and they are just the best. In fact, they're so amazing that they even let us watch the Super Bowl! Wait, haha, just kidding. Let me rephrase that. They let my companion watch the super bowl. Of course I'm dreading this entire dinner because I know all my companion wants to watch the game. I strategically placed myself so I was looking away from the TV and the dinner table and the wife goes, "No Élder, you sit over here!" and points to the other seat right in front of the TV. My neck was so kinked by the end of that dinner. it seems silly why I would do that because like "Hey, it's just a football game like what the" but to me it means a lot that I can give up little things for just a bit longer. I thought maybe someone could get a kick out of this story though.

I have learned a lot this week about how I can be a better trainer for my amazing companion and in what ways I can help him improve. I'm far from perfect and there's no doubt about it, and yet I still try to be. I think it's so amazing that we have this perception or this desire to be perfect at everything we do. I've thought a lot about WHY we want to be perfect and not make mistakes and just do it all just right. It's because we know what perfect is and it's instilled in our nature from the Perfect Heavenly Father we have. Thankfully to Him I have this desire to be perfect and I can only be perfect through Christ! Oh man, how amazing it is to be here on this earth to learn and to grow. I hope you're all doing well, sincerely. Enjoy your valentine's day! We have some lessons with people we set up so hopefully we don't interrupt any date nights, be safe! Feel free to reach out too!

Moroni 10:32 - Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness; and if ye shall deny yourselves of all ungodliness, and love God with all your might, mind and strength, then is his grace sufficient for you, that by his grace ye may be perfect in Christ; and if by the grace of God ye are perfect in Christ, ye can in nowise deny the power of God
