Week 88

Yet again, another week passes.

Okay so in my last email I tried to be funny but I am going to be honest with you all, I am not quite sure how I can keep this up. I think the longer I have been on my mission, the more my humor deteriorates... or maybe I don't have enough of that good smelling cologne anymore. Oh well. We had a road trip this past week which was so hype. Tuesday afternoon we packed up and drove to Elko! Back to my old stomping grounds. I got there and remembered that it is still the small town I remember it being! On our way up to Elko we stopped at this pizza place in the armpit of America. Wait sorry, Battle Mountain is the correct name to use. Ironically, the armpit of America has the best tasting pizza in the entire world. A combo I never thought would ever take hold of me...

We also ended up driving to Ely, Nevada! Have you ever heard of it before? I don't expect you to because man that place is tiny. We pulled in and I was so excited to do some missionary work there but I realized we could walk the entire town in like 4 hours. When we arrived we got to see the Ely Zone Leaders and they just were laughing so hard because they don't know what two sets of Elders are going to be able to do all day in Ely. We went on a run the next morning and ran from end to end in 25 minutes. I LOVED IT! We did service at the ranch that the Church owns and we literally picked up rocks for two hours. It was the funnest thing we did all day. Elder Troop and I went to Garrison, Utah! Yeah, I went home for just an hour. I came up to the border of Nevada and Utah and was so excited to step over into Utah again. When I did, it was the same feeling that I had standing in Nevada. We did put a family on date for baptism though! The crazy shenanigans in Ely!

We are working closely with our friend Rachel who is still on date to be baptized. Talk about impressive people, she is one of them. Yesterday was her first day in over 25 years without a cigarette. In the middle of sacrament meeting she started to freak out and get angry due to the withdrawals. We stepped out and gave her a blessing and immediate comfort was given to her. I am sitting there in absolute shock because I don't eat for 8 hours and I can't be calmed down by my companion. The power of God is so real. We are meeting with her again tonight to teach her more and keep her on track to be baptized this month!

Elder Neville and I have been having a ton of fun together. Sometimes, a little too much. We do this little handshake thing after every time something good happens. Come on, we got to celebrate a little bit here and there. We were having a lesson and we brought a member with us to help teach the daughter of our recent convert because I don't understand women. She committed to coming to church so we did our handshake and the member we brought looked at us and bursted out laughing. We sit there looking like this 0_0 and she explains how we are cringing. Member relations are good.

We had 8 people come to church yesterday. My mission high! Never had this many people at church. It was insane.

I can't even describe the greatness of this work. It is so hard, so fun, so important, and so urgent. I look back at when I first started my mission and I did not understand nearly 90% of what I do now. I am grateful for the growth that I have gone through to become who I am now. Christ has made this all possible, and He can for you too. He is always the answer and always will be. God is good. I hope yall stay safe and have a good week! If you want to hear any more crazy stories, shoot me an email or something because writing them all would become an essay. Hasta luego mis carnales!

Alma 7:23 - And now I would that ye should be humble, and be submissive and gentle; easy to be entreated; full of patience and long-suffering; being temperate in all things; being diligent in keeping the commandments of God at all times; asking for whatsoever things ye stand in need, both spiritual and temporal; always returning thanks unto God for whatsoever things ye do receive.
