Week 90
Wow! Another week goes by, I guess.
The time has been getting faster and faster! Next thing I know, it's the 90th week of my mission, and I only have 12 left. Gosh, is that real? Only 12 of these emails left? Haha, thanks for bearing with me through all 90 emails I have sent out. Hopefully, you can hang on for just 12 more!
We had a very busy week, but let me tell you, it was another one saved for life. Since it was transfers this week, we were VERY busy. It is like the most stressful yet most exciting week I wait for every transfer. There are so many moving parts and so many things to do, it makes the time pass by so fast! I said goodbye to my dear companion Elder Neville. His Kendama skills are going to be missed greatly. I still have my good friend Elder Oakes though! We have gotten along quite well and have seen some great success so far in the work.
Our friend Rachel is going to be baptized this Saturday! I cannot wait to see her make this covenant with her Heavenly Father. I cannot describe what an honor it is to work with someone who desires to become more like Jesus Christ. We all come from different walks of life, and I just am so grateful to have been a tiny part of her progression towards baptism. She is so funny too; she keeps talking about how nervous she is but then immediately after talks about how excited she is. Women are confusing.
I was able to take 2 brand new missionaries out on their first day, which was such a cool experience. We took one Elder out, and man, our night was incredible! We taught one of our good friends Judy, and we made her commit to not selling drugs anymore. If you looked at this lady, you never would have guessed. She is pure in heart, and she LOVES to read anything we give her. It was so cool, and the Spirit was so strong as we testified of how important it is to rely on God. She is going in the right direction, and we hope to help her enter into the waters of baptism too. Shortly after our lesson ends, we see this woman cleaning up her side-yard, and I gave this new Elder a Book of Mormon, and I whispered, "I don't want to see this book in your hand after we talk to this lady." Lo and behold, 10 minutes later, that woman accepted the Book of Mormon and committed to read it. God is so good!
The other brand new missionary came out a day later, so as we picked him up from the airport, we rushed out to our lesson we had. He came with us, and luckily he spoke Spanish too! We took him to a woman that spoke Spanish only, so we both were able to teach her! I miss Spanish work so much. I know the Lord needs me in the Sienna Vista ward, but man, speaking that language is so fun haha. We had this entire family come and sit down with us, and we taught the Restoration. Let me tell you, the Spirit doesn't lie. It was so strong, and they felt it! So undeniable, and they all committed to reading and praying about the Book of Mormon to know if it's true. GOD IS GOOD!
This week, I have learned a lot about goals and why they are so important. I have set a lot of goals throughout my mission and my life, but this week, for some reason, it all just clicked. I have had several of my companions set goals with me, personally, and each one has shown me such a great example of how to set goals and achieve them. I have been really focusing on setting goals that mean something and that I am determined to achieve. Goals are underestimated. They are the key to becoming who you want to be, and more importantly, who God wants you to be. As I set goals each time, I have prayerfully discerned which goals are important and what I can do to reach them. I encourage each of you to set goals because they are a great guide to life. You will reach the potential that God wants you to reach.
This work is incredible. As I said earlier, I can't believe I only have 12 more weeks. That isn't enough time!! I am sure my parents are happy to hear it is only 12 though. I can't testify any bolder or stronger of the importance of this work. It is so crucial that every missionary who commits to serving is 100% in. I have been trying to be 110% in, but I am still trying to figure out how to fabricate that 10%. You all are awesome. God loves you. Jesus loves you. Don't believe me? Ask Them yourself :) Have a good week! Be safe!
Alma 26:22 - Yea, he that repenteth and exerciseth faith and bringeth forth good works and prayeth continually without ceasing—unto such it is given to know the mysteries of God; yea, unto such it shall be given to reveal things which never have been revealed; yea, and it shall be given unto such to bring thousands of souls to repentance, even as it has been given unto us to bring these our brethren to repentance.
